Horseradish

Horseradish: Description. A perennial, herbaceous, with a thick root vegetable plant. The leaves are large, basal, long, oblong - oval. Flowers small, white with four petals. Fruit - the pods. Plant height 50-120 cm
Flowering time. Flowering is rare.
Habitat. Grown in gardens. In the wild it grows in meadows, river banks.
The applied part. Roots.
Collection time. September - October.
Horseradish: Chemical composition. Horseradish root contains proteins, essential and mustard oil, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, copper, sulfur, alkaloids, cellulose, the enzyme tyrosine, volatile, sugar, starch, resins, a lot of vitamin C.
Horseradish: Action. Diuretic, expectorant, analgesic, bactericidal, phytoncide, antiscorbutic, irritating the skin, tonic, antispasmodic. Enhances the activity of the gastrointestinal tract, stimulates appetite, calms the pain, improves blood circulation and metabolism in skin diseases, stimulates the nervous system.
Horseradish: Application. In the intestinal, renal disease, edema, anemia (anemia), scurvy, malaria, sore throat, tonsillitis, chronic bronchitis, mental and physical exhaustion, festering wounds, ulcers, chronic rheumatism, gout, arthritis, sciatica, radiculitis, myositis, cholelithiasis , hepatitis, biliary dyskinesia in hypokinetic type.
Method of application.
1. Grated horseradish grated apple (1:1) - With a soft, porous skin.

3. Fresh horseradish and juice with sugar, 1 teaspoon, 1 per day with bread before the meal. Outwardly - grated horseradish or infusion in vinegar or vodka.
Contraindications. Gastritis, nephritis, enterocolitis. In large doses, can cause gastroenterocolitis.
